The Import/Export feature is used to move objects from one system to another. The Import/Export utility (also called the Release utility) allows to export all the objects of a single Domain to a file and then read from the file to import the included objects to another instance.
Following objectives can be achieved:
Import/Export The entire App can be imported/exported.
Facility of movement of the multiple tasks.
Facility to override the objects or not if already existing while importing.
Provide upgrades to previously imported objects.
Import and export of data adheres the functionality of copying and pasting. Here the sets of data are copied from one application and pasted into another.
Export is an option to save a file or other objects in a way that a different program or instance can use it. To use this feature, do the following:
Click on the More button of the required App on the App Summary page.

Click on the Export option. The export zip file will be downloaded containing all the objects of that App.

Import is an option used to bring files, tasks and other objects from different locations or programs or instances to the current location or program or to another instance. Importing of complete App or required objects can be performed on to an existing App or to a new App.
Importing to a new app can be done in 2 ways:
Import All: Import all the objects from an App.
Custom Import: Import only the required objects.

To import all the objects from an App, do the following:
Click on the Import button in the required App category.

In the Import App window, click on the Import All (1) button and then click on the CONTINUE (2) button.

Drag and drop the required ZIP file or click on the Browse button to select the exported ZIP file to be uploaded.

Once the selected exported zip file is uploaded completely (100%), enter the name of the App in the App Name field and click on the IMPORT button.

Note: To change the uploaded zip file, click on the Cancel button and repeat the steps to upload a different zip file.
A new App will be created with the given name and the imported files.
Here, only the specific or required objects can be imported into the new App or instance. To import only the specific files, do the following:
Click on the Import button in the required App category.

In the Import App window, click on the Custom Import (3) button and then click on the CONTINUE (2) button.

In the Import Wizard, follow the onscreen instructions and complete the steps:
Step 1: Import Zip
Drag and drop the required ZIP file or click on the Browse button (5) to select the exported ZIP file to be uploaded.

Once the selected exported zip file is uploaded completely (100%), enter the name of the App in the App Name field (6) and click on the NEXT button(7).
Note: To change the uploaded zip file, click on the Cancel button and repeat the steps to upload a different zip file.
Step 2: Tasks
All the tasks that are getting imported to the importing App will be listed here. Select the tasks that need to be imported. Once the tasks are selected for importing, the dependent objects of the tasks for other entities are imported automatically. Uncheck the Tasks that don’t need to be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 3 : Templates
Here, all the templates of type XML, CSV, JSON for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Templates that don’t need to be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 4 : Components
Here, all the Excel macro and the UI components for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed in two tabs, Excel Macros and UI Components and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Components that don’t need to be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 5 : UI Controls
Here, all the UI Controls of the UI nodes used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the UI Controls that don’t need to be imported.
Note: The UI Controls are uniquely identified by using the combination of its App name, Module name, type of automation and the UI Control name to differentiate the UI Controls having the same name in different tasks of the same Application.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 6 : Functions
Here, all the Functions used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Functions that don’t need to be imported.
Note: The functions are uniquely identified by the function name along with its type (Custom or Default) to differentiate the functions having the same name in different tasks of the same Application.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 7: Vault
Here, all the secure vault keys used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the secure vault keys that don’t need to be imported.
A text message is displayed next to the objects to be displayed to indicate that those items already exist in the importing App. This implies that these objects need not be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 8: Presentations
Here, all the Presentations used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Presentations that don’t need to be imported.

Step 9: User roles
Here, all the User roles used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the User roles that don’t need to be imported.

Step 10: Models
Here, all the Models used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Models that don’t need to be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 11: Filesets
Here, all the Filesets used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Filesets that don’t need to be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 12: Config
Here, all the Clusters and Configurations used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed in two tabs, Clusters and Configurations and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Clusters and Configurations that don’t need to be imported.
Click on the NEXT button.

Step 13: Datasets
Here, all the Datasets used for the selected tasks in the exported zip file are listed and will be checked automatically. Uncheck the Datasets that don’t need to be imported.
Note: Only the structure of the Datasets will be migrated along with the Form Settings for the selected datasets.

Click on the MIGRATE DATA AND IMPORT button once the import setup is performed appropriately for all the entities.
In the Import Process Validation popup that appears, click on the CONFIRM button. Clicking on this button, all the objects selected under each entity for importing are imported successfully to the importing instance.

In the Import Summary popup that appears, click on the DOWNLOAD
REPORT button to download a text file having the count of all the
objects that got imported, not imported and overwritten.

Click on the DONE button in the Import Summary popup to close the import wizard.
To import files to an existing app, do the following:
In the App Summary page, click on the More icon of the app that the files must be imported to.
